Our MISSION at Hickory Valley Christian School is to develop the whole child through a Christian education designed to foster creative learning and a love for others.

Hickory Valley Christian School strives for the development of each child's maximum potential: intellectually, spiritually, socially, physically, and emotionally, within a warm and caring environment. We exist to enable students to become productive, contributing citizens with Christ-like faith and Christian commitment.

Hickory Valley Christian School was founded in 1980 as a ministry of Hickory Valley Christian Church. While our school and the church share facilities and enjoy a close working relationship we are two legally distinct institutions with our own 501c-3. HVCS Board has both school and church members, but the school is responsible for it's own programs and operations. The purpose of our program is to encourage an active partnership of learning among students, faculty and parents. The faculty and staff strive to be Christian role models and are dedicated to encouraging, supporting, and nurturing students in the pursuit of academic excellence and a personal relationship with Christ. Academic quality is maintained through our accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as well as by the Southern Association of Independent Schools.

A Message from The Head of School

Tony Tucker

There are not many decisions that parents will make as important as where a child will spend their foundational years. Middle School and High School build on a solid elementary education. Educating children is the ministry of the faculty, staff, and administration of HVCS, and it is our goal to glorify God in everything we do and to provide godly examples to the children who come to us.

HVCS has been blessed by God for more than 30 years, and we continue to provide an excellent Christian education that focuses on the “whole” child. HVCS is known for 5 things in the Chattanooga area: (1) We are a Christ-centered school, (2) We meet each student where he or she is and move each child toward maximum potential, (3) We give each child the intellectual capacity to face the future, (4) We make learning fun, and (5) we develop a sense of global awareness and diversity.

Students who move through our program will be exposed to core curriculum from K3-5th grade and beginning in 4th grade students will encounter different components to their educational experience including the core curriculum. Components may include such areas as leadership, career exploration, community service, and current events. These allow for a well-rounded experience that prepares them for middle school in a way no other elementary school will.

We would be thrilled if you would come by and visit HVCS and tour our facilities and meet our excellent faculty, staff, and students! Once you visit, we know you will feel at home and your children will feel safe and secure.
