December Newsletter

Hello parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed the time off together and had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Thanks for all the cans that you brought in for our “Share Your Christmas.”   I can’t believe it is almost Christmas.  This year has gone by fast so far.

Reminders

*Please send a coat with your child everyday.  If weather permits, they will  be allowed to go outside for a few minutes each day. However, with the cold weather, he/she needs a heavy coat.

*Please send in a change of clothes for the colder weather.  We have the ones from the beginning of the year but they will not be warm enough for the children if they should need them.

K5 Reading:

We have begun sending books home for those ready to read independently.  They should read nightly in the book until they are able to read it fluently.  This may take several days or a week.  Do not put pressure on your child, let them lead the way.  I will monitor their progress and continue sending books home. Please don’t forget to continue to practice the sight word lists also.

*I am not sending home homework papers for these next two weeks of school.  Your homework is to continue to practice your Christmas lines, number recognition, number writing and read, read, read.

K5 Math:

Some of the concepts to be evaluated that you can practice at home with your child are recognizing numbers 1-50, writing numbers 1-25 and recognizing right to left progression.  Please consistently review the numbers 1-50 with your children at home.  They will need to recognize all of them for this nine weeks evaluation.    Just be sure to skip around when reviewing the numbers for mastery.  Your child will also need to be able to write numbers 1-25 on the next evaluation.

K5 Handwriting

We are continuing to work in our journal books each morning to practice letter formation.
