Assignments for the Week of:

5/21-5/24

Math: (Bechtol)  We will be reviewing skills from the beginning chapters of our textbook.

Spelling: (Stynchcombe)  For the remainder of the year students will be engaging in classroom spelling bee competitions.

Language Arts: (Stynchcombe) 

Reading: (Stynchcombe)  Students should be working toward their AR requirements and goals for the 4th quarter.  Last day to take AR tests is Friday, May 18th.  Students are working from the SRA kit, completing newspaper and Weekly Reader activities. 

Vocabulary: (Stynchcombe) 

Bible: (Bechtol)   We are beginning  a book called "How to Study Your Bible (for kids)".  Mr. Exum is going to teach a leadership class on Thursdays and he will be focusing on leaders from the Bible.  Memory verse:  " What shall we say then? shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By noi means! WE died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death." We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.  If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.  For we know that our old self was crusified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we die with Christ, we believe that we will also  live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over Him.  The death He died, he died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives for God.  Romans 6:1-10  They can say it to me any time before Monday, May 14th.  Mr. Exum has challeneged the 5th grade to learn Romans 6. 

Science: (Bechtol)  I want to end the year with labs about the Earth and how it moves.

Social Studies: (Bechtol) They will be presenting their research papers and watching " The Story of Us" a History Channel documentary.
