Garage Sale- Bring in your 5 items for garage sale!!!!!

Morning circle-Third grade will be in charge of morning circle on Friday, February 17.

 

Science FairNext Science Fair assignment is due February 17th.( Some have had points taken off for late assignments.)

 

 Field Trip- The third and fourth grade will go to Nashville to take a guided tour of the capitol, visit the Tennessee State Museum, and explore in the Science Adventure Museum. The cost for the capitol and state museum is free. The cost for the Science Adventure Museum is five dollars for students and six dollars for adults. We are in the process of getting a bus and figuring out the total fee for each student. Parents will be permitted to ride on the bus with us. We will leave at 7 AM on Friday, April 20.

Language Arts:   Feb. 6-9 We will finish both writing and reading aloud our creative writing paper on "Writing Directions". Feb 14-17 Our study of adjectives will begin.

 Spelling: Feb.6-9  Mon. Finish unit 22 -due tomorrow Tues. Study for Unit 22 test  Thurs. Unit 23   Feb.14-17 ( NO TEST THIS WEEK)  Tues. Unit 23 Thurs. Unit 23

Reading:  Students will continue reading chapters 8-12 in Jane Eyre. To promote comprehension, questions will be answered daily and murals will be made. Descriptive paragraphs will be written about each character using the structure words. Students will practice sequencing skills by writing five facts about each chapter. Each will tell the main idea of each chapter. Please encourage students to read AR.

Homework-Some students have been assigned a seperate classic to read at home. Each should write three-five facts after each chapter. Others should continue to read aloud chapters in Jane that were read in class.

 Hats off!!! This group has finished David Copperfield! I had a tear! Students will finish writing descriptive paragraphs about each character and murals.Friday we will celebrate by watching the movie featuring Harry Potter as David and Maggie Smith as Aunt Betsey. Precious!!!! Students will begin reading Chapters 1-3 in Great Expectations, my absolute favorite. This group has now read three novels by Charles Dickens! What reading wizards!!!

Reading Project-Due Feb 9- Students have been given posters and assigned David Copperfield characters. Each will illustrate four favorite scenes and write 1-2 telling about each scene. Students will write a 10-12 sentence paragraph on the back of their poster describing character and reason for their choice. Directions have been stapled to each poster. 

Homework: Each student has been assigned a seperate classic for homework. Students should write five facts about each chapter. Extra credit will be given to those who create a poster illustrating the main events

Handwriting: Mon. pp. 116-120   Tues. pp. 116-120  Wed. pp.116-120 due tomorrow  Thurs. Finish Book  Feb. 14-16 Book must be finished by Thursday.

Science:  Feb. 6-9  Wed. Workbook pp.93-94 ( No science fair assignment this week) Feb. 14-17 ( Science Fair Assignment for week 3 this Friday) Thurs. workbook pp.97-98  and week 3 Science fair assignment due

                                                                                                             Social Studies Students will complete a study guide. Each will read pages 114-127 about our environment and ways it can affect people . Students will look at specific landforms and tell how the geography can make living in that environment easy or difficult.

Bible:   Students will be writing and reading what each verse of Psalm 23 means to them. Memory Work: Psalm 23:1-6 Students have copy of Psalm 23 in red folder.)
