Fourth Grade Parent Letter Students are allowed to enter the classrooms at 7:45 AM. If your child arrives after The computer lab will be open each morning from 7:30-8:00 for students to take AR tests. If you are picking up your child prior to the normal dismissal time, you MUST first stop by the office to sign him/her out of school. Your child's teacher will be called for your child to report to the office.
Medications: See HVCS’ web page. All medications must be left in the school office, never with the homeroom teacher or inside a child’s locker or backpack! The school will NOT be dispensing OTC medications. If your child requires OTC medications, please send the medication with you child's name written on it to the office. Snacks should be healthy and should not contain carbonated drinks or candy. However, fruitdrinks may be sent. Clear water bottles with sport’s caps are allowed in classrooms. Lunch will be from
Field Trips: Your child's field trip costs will be sent to you in your monthly statement.
Physical Education classes will be held on Thursdays from 1:45-2:30. Students will wear their regular dress uniform on P.E. days. They will have recess from 12:30-1:00 every day.
Agenda Books are issued to every student. It is the students’ responsibility to get assignments in the agenda book. Assignments are posted in each of the child’s classes and/or a syllabus will be handed out. Please check agenda book or web page nightly for homework assignments. Homework will be given on Monday, Tuesday, occasionally on Wednesday, Thursday, and over the weekend when/if needed. Homework should be approximately one hour a night. If child is spending longer than this, confer with the homeroom teacher.
All assigned homework should be turned in on the date it is due. Late assignments will receive a 5 point deduction if turned in one day late. If the assignment is turned in later, the student will receive a zero (0). Students may choose to complete assignments during break, while eating lunch or during recess. Spelling will be assigned every week. Workbook pages are due on Thursday. Tests will be administered on Monday. If school is not in session on Monday, tests will be given on Tuesday.
Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary Workshop units will be assigned on Wednesday. Unit workbook pages will be due the following Wednesday. Bible quizzes/memory work will be noted in your child’s agenda book and in the Monday Mail newsletters. Memory work quizzes will be taken before circle on Friday mornings.

Report Cards: Please note the difference between an accommodation and a modification. An accommodation is used when a student is expected to learn the same curricular content. The student may be taught in a different way, respond or test in different manner, or need chages in the environment. A modification is used when a student is expected to learn less of different curricular content. This could require the modification of assignments, tests, worksheets, and other materials in the classroom.
Birthday Parties:Your child’s birthday may be celebrated M-F during lunch break. Please notify your child’s homeroom teacher if he/she wishes to bring goodies. If your child has a birthday during the summer months, he/she may celebrate it during the school year on a day of his/her choosing. Any invitations including the entire class may be given out at school. Invitations excluding some of your child's classmates need to be mailed.
Please, please, please! Write your child’s name on all belongings such as clothes, lunch boxes, backpacks, etc.
If at any time there is a change of address, telephone number, or email address in your family, please notify the school office and your child’s homeroom teacher so we can keep an updated list for emergencies.
